After her November’s mission, our President Paola Vecchiato is back again in the Philippines: during this mission she will meet the local stakeholders, then she will assess and evaluate the feasibility of new projects, and finally she will monitor the beginning of the works to build the Health Center in San Francisco, Camotes Islands.
First, our President will visit Pinamalayan, in Oriental Mindoro, to assess and monitor the situation after typhoon Nona hit leaving severe damages in the town, destroying houses and infrastructures, as we had told you here. Here, she will personally evaluate the possibility to contribute to improving the situation, helping the community to restore their environment and shift towards normality.
Second stop-over of her mission will be San Francisco, in the Camotes Islands, where the works to construct the Health Center have finally begun. Our President will work closely with Kito Onlus’ Field Assistant, Abby: she will monitor the proceeding of the building process, inaugurating the site with a presentation of the project directed to the whole community.
She will then take care of the management and organization necessary to start off the training on resilient and anti-typhoon construction methods, which is directed to the local community. In fact, Kito Onlus finds it very important to directly involve the local population, passing on the necessary know-how needed to manage emergencies, increasing their resilience level through projects that improve their preparedness, a fundamental element in managing natural hazards.
A very rich program, fundamental to guarantee that the projects proceed in the best way possible and that all the stakeholders are involved.
