We would like to thank you very much for your partecipation in our Filipino dinner, that took place on the 20th of April at Ca’ Sana, in Padova. It was organised thanks to the valuable contribution of Associazione Donne Filippine.
A Tavola col Mondo initiative is promoted by Associazione Ca’ Sana Fucina delle Idee to make people learn and discover food, countries and cultures of the world, in collaboration with associations that work in the field of cooperation and support foreign communities living in the city or in their countries of origin. These meetings also aim to know and support some charity projects, carried on in developing countries.
During the evening the participants enjoyed some typical dishes, prepared with the help of Filipino women living in Padua: thus they had the opportunity to experience new flavors and ingredients, as well as learn more about the their country of origin. The tasty menu included: Lumpia (vegetable rolls), Adobo (rice and chicken), Pochero (fish with vegetables) and the characteristic Halo-Halo (fruit ice-cream) that is a way of life and the emblem of Filipino rather than a simple dessert.
The dinner was also a moment to raise awareness of the initiatives and projects carried out by Kito Onlus and Associazione Donne Filippine; in particular, our President, Paola Vecchiato, spoke about the program of prevention and emergency response targeting women and children in the Philippines and explained that the purpose of the evening was to raise funds to support the reconstruction of three classrooms of a primary school in Mindoro Baniland, an island strongly affected by a typhoon in the last few months.
