After a meeting with ICLEI SouthEast Asia Director, she will travel to the city of San Francisco in the Camotes Islands, which has been selected as beneficiary of our Emergency Fund as it was one of the most damaged in that area hit by supertyphoon Haiyan.
However, good news are finally landing to the city of San Francisco! The amount of money that KITO collected by the end of 2013 for the emergency of the typhoon Haiyan will be entirely donated to its community!
One of the first projects we decide to implement the so-called “Cash for Work”, which will provide the local population with a temporary employment in public projects. This gives people the chance not only to gain economic benefits but also to help themselves during the process of their life’s rebuilding in the aftermath of the trauma.
The project will include activities such as the coastal clean up and the mangrove reforestation and planting, since the area extremely needs to be greened again after the typhoon.
If you wish to learn more about our next project stay connected, and follow KITO’s journey in the Philippines!
