We know that you are eager to be informed about Kito’s projects in the Philippines, so today we would like to present you our new project in San Francisco, Camotes Islands.
Last February, during her mission in the Philippines, our President Paola, together with our field assistant Liliana Demartini, who is there for a three months internship at the local Risk Reduction Management Office, met in San Francisco the local authorities and the representatives of the Cebu Technological University. During these meetings, the necessities of the local community emerged; one of them is the creation of a small Health Center.
The Health Center (about 80 square meters) will be built in Tulang Diot island (Barangay Esperanza) near the elementary school/evacuation center, and it will served 180 families (about 800 people) in one of the most isolated areas of the Camotes Islands. People living there don’t have eletricity and water, and they don’t have accesibility to health facilities that are in the mainland. They need, above all, for a birth center, considering the high grade of pregnant women of the Island.
While the project will be carried out by the students of architecture of the University of Genova, Kito will organize a fundraising campaign in order to finance this initiative.
The construction of the Health Center will start as soon as enough funds will be collected. Check our website in the following weeks for more information about the fundraising campaign and how to donate. Our supporters can help us in making the difference and improving health conditions in the Philippines.
