Kito Onlus would like to wish you a HAPPY WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY (yes, we are 3 days late, sorry!)
The World Environment Day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972 and it is celebrated every year to encourage worldwide awareness and action for the environment. Kito Onlus has an active role in promoting environmental protection in the countries where it works. For example, our Cash for Work project in San Francisco, Camotes Islands, involves local people in coastal clean up and mangrove reforestation. The village was heavily hit by typhoon Haiyan, thus this project is very important because the greening of the environment will provide a cleaner and safer place to live to the inhabitants of the city, giving them the resources to rebuild their houses as well. These activities contribute to the environmental sustainability of the island: help us to make the Philippines a more resilient country!
“Raise your voice, not the sea level. Planet Earth is our shared island. Let us join forces to protect it.” – Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations
