GRANTS/PROGRAM COORDINATOR

This is a new position in the organization and it’s meant for recent graduates and young professionals with a strong commitment to create innovative and sustainable solutions in disaster-prone and/or emergency contexts. The incumbent will be based in the HQ in Italy and will be travelling frequently, for mid to long term missions in the Philippines, depending on the status of the operations.

The Grants/Program Coordinator will thus be exposed to both office/management work and field operation, taking the lead of a specific grant to develop a portfolio of projects for the community of San Francisco in the Camotes Islands (SFCI). The incumbent will also support the organization in fundraising and communication to ensure a scalability of the implemented projects and an effective implementation.

Main tasks

In the HQ:

  • grant management and project design based on community assessment and previous mission reports, including budgeting, administration and support to field operations (from planning to implementation)

  • coordinating the communication with our employees in the field

  • take the lead in designing the fundraising and communication strategy of the organization (national, international and local)

  • coordinating a team of 2 interns in the organization of fundraising events and the internal and external communication

  • strengthening of local partnerships

  • donor relations and reporting

  • other duties as assigned

In the field:

  • field management of grants funded projects

  • coordinating the communication and logistics with local partners in Manila and SFCI

  • monitoring and evaluating the implementation of specific projects related to the grant in the SFCI

  • adapting a livelihood and a DRR training to the local need of the population with partners based on community assessment and feasibility study

  • train the trainers and transfer the ownership of the project to the local community

  • strengthen the partnership with the recipient local government

  • report on the previous points and maintain the communication with the HQ in Italy

  • any other duty as assigned

Requirements

Essential:

  • BA/BS in Social Sciences, Political Science, Development Studies or related fields

  • past experience in project management, fundraising and/or communication

  • fluency in written and oral English

  • strong management and active problem solving skills

  • experience in capacity building and training in challenging environments

  • experience in NGO, multilateral organizations, cooperation

  • independence, high adaptability and self-motivation

  • high knowledge of MS Office

  • strong interpersonal skills and team player

  • commitment to Kito’s values

Desirable:

  • MA/MSc in International Economics, Social Science, Development Studies or related fields

  • previous experience in developing countries (South-East Asia preferred)

  • previous experience in health, hygiene, community development and/or DRR projects

  • working proficiency in Italian a plus

The position is ideal for young professionals looking for an overarching experience in the field of project management, DRR, emergency relief and resilience. The incumbent will be working under the supervision of the President and Vice-President of Kito Onlus, in a team of 2/3 staff, supervising 1/2 interns at a time in the HQ (part- or full-time, depending on the particular case) and a field manager in the Philippines. While in the field the incumbent will be the focal point of Kito Onlus in the country and closely work with the team of ICLEI South East Asia and SFCI staff.

The Grants Coordinator is expected to start working on March 1, 2016 for an initial period of 6 months. Conditional on funding availability and achievements, s/he might be offered to extend the contract. The incumbent will receive a basic internship stipend to cover basic living costs in Italy and in the Philippines.

PROGRAM ASSISTANT (2 internship positions)

This is an exciting internship position within a fast growing international NGO. You will be working in our HQ in an international environment and will be responsible for the fundraising and the communication of the organization.

Main tasks:

  • organize fundraising events

  • support the administration in writing grant proposals

  • manage Kito Onlus crowd-funding initiatives

  • assist in the production of internal/external reports and documentation

  • follow and improve the communication of the organization through social networks, blogs, etc.

  • prepare presentations for internal and external audience

  • coordinate the advertisement of events and fundraising

  • other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Essential:

  • BA/BS in Communication, Social Sciences, Political Science, Development Studies or related field

  • fluency in written and oral English

  • fluency in written and oral Italian

  • high knowledge of MS Office and internet (blogs, social networks)

  • good interpersonal skills and team player

  • strong initiative and out-of-the-crowd thinking

  • commitment to Kito’s values

Desirable:

  • Master Degree in a related subject

  • fluency in another language

  • previous experiences in fundraising and/or NGOs

The position is ideal for recent graduates or enrolled in a master degree looking for an entry level experience in the field of project management, DRR, emergency relief and resilience. The incumbent will be working in a team of two interns either part- or full-time, under the supervision of the Grants/Program Coordinator and the overall guidance of the President of Kito Onlus.

Unfortunately, due to the small size of our business at the moment we are not able to provide compensation to our interns. Depending on the performance and upon funds availability there is the possibility to join a mission to the field with senior staff and eventually to receive a small living allowance after the first 3 months.

The Program Assistant is expected to start working on February 22, 2016 for an initial period of 3 months.
