5th June: World Environment Day

Today, 5th of June, also Kito Onlus takes part to the celebrations with over 100 countries for the World Environment Day!!!

World-Environment-Day-2019Since 1974, indeed, the 5th of June is the United Nations day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action to protect our environment.

The World Environment Day is the “people’s day” for doing something to take care of the Earth; each person is free to choose what and how: at local, national or global level. Furthermore, each World Environment Day is organized around a theme: for 2019 it is “Beat Air Pollution” and the host country is China.

Let’s stop for a moment and think about what each of us can do in our little but significant way to help the precious and wonderful environment where we live in and where the next generations will do as well: through constant and determined commitment we can make a difference!

Since the beginning Kito Onlus intervenes through projects in the Philippines in a careful and respectful way for the local environment, for example trying to involve as much as possible human and material resources already existing locally. This is really important in such a vulnerable country like Philippines that are hit every year by at least thirty natural disasters, including typhoons, floods and earthquakes.

The World Environment Day also draws attention to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of UN 2030 Agenda, where there are three Goals related to the environmental issue: the 13th РClimate Action, the 14th РLife Under Water, and the 15th РLife on Land. In all his projects Kito Onlus is focused on SDGs  to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity.
